Tucked down a dirt track in woodland above Vercorin, it’s not easy to find this place, but you’ll be glad you did. Rather than a single hotel, it’s a collection of wooden cabins modelled on traditional mazots (Swiss alpine huts), each offering a peaceful refuge among the trees far above the Rhône valley. The cabins are luxurious but homely, with comfy cushions, plush throws and rugs set against wood furniture and floorboads. A pellet stove keeps things toasty and at least one of the cabins has a hot tub in the garden. The main lodge offers breakfast and dinner and there’s a separate spa area with a two-person sauna.
