There’s a fair chance that Tulse Hill hasn’t been high on your bucket list of stylish sleepover destinations, but since its makeover in 2014, the Tulse Hill Hotel has been pulling out the stops to change that. Yes, it’s surrounded by the Tulse Hill gyratory on the South Circular (tempted yet?), but once inside, you’ll discover a welcoming bar with local beers on tap, an extensive wine list focusing on natural and organic wines and a cheerful restaurant serving seasonal British food. The secluded beer garden comes alive in the summer months, with a barbeque, outdoor bar and a loyal clientele of young professionals who have been priced out of Brixton. The hotel has nine boutique bedrooms of various sizes and does a smashing full English to set you up for a day in the capital. Or, order the bottomless brunch with unlimited prosecco, and settle in for another day.
