Arriving for a stay at this stunning Grade II-listed Georgian manor house 30 minutes from central Bath gives you the impression you've made it in the world. Which doesn't mean anything unless you care for that sort of thing. Babington House is kind of boho-urban luxury in the countryside, as you'd expect from a hotel that's part of the Soho House empire, and it comes with a fabulous bar, restaurant, and super-good Cowshed-branded spa. So far, so good. The rooms are 'cool' – the place is popular with celebs after all – think cutesy little attic rooms with exposed brick walls, beams and baths next to the sofa. More family-friendly are the two-storey Stable Rooms, decorated in flowery wallpaper and opaque green and blue hues, with mini kitchens, bunk beds, loads of toys and huge wet rooms for fun bathtimes. Our beautiful double in the main house was spacious, with deep blue walls, dark wood floors and a massive plush four-poster bed fronted by a velvet sofa that make you want to fall around without many clothes on. You can order in champagne, purchase the decor from the on-site shop, enjoy super high-speed Wi-Fi, get a to-die-for massage in the spa (pick the 'Stressed Cow'), and play tennis, badminton, football and croquet too! There are also magnificent heated indoor/outdoor infinity pools too. Did we mention the cinema?
