GelupoGet the scoop on dreamy, creamy Italian ice cream
It takes a while to emerge from Gelupo clutching your cone or tub: not because the service is slow (it's not), or because it's busy (although it is), but because it will take you ages to make up your mind. On the menu are 30 flavours – all made on the premises – of the creamiest, silkiest, most luscious Italian ice cream, or gelato, including classics such as ricotta sour cherry with juicy maraschino chunks and chocolate with a beautifully rich bitterness, as well as innovative options like CBD oil and chocolate brownie or mango sticky rice.
Authentic gelato (and this is – Gelupo is owned by the restaurant Bocca di Lupo, opposite) has less fat and is served at a slightly higher temperature, so it’s softer, with a velvety texture. Patient staff are used to delighted ‘oohs’ and satisfied ‘aahs’ from customers sampling their first lick or spoonful. You can ‘eat in’: perching on stools surrounded by vintage Italian film and travel posters. And if you don’t go to Soho, they deliver to a wide area of London.
