A graffitied door marks the entrance to this artsy café on a quiet Raval alleyway, around the corner from bar-lined Joaquín Costa street. Back in the day, the building was a stable connected to next door’s former convent, but now it’s hipsters not horses that frequent the place. Inside, changing art exhibitions hang on the white walls (all pieces are for sale), while the centrepiece is an old carpenter’s table kitted out with contemporary lighting. It’s about quality not quantity here: there’s a simple menu of toasted sandwiches, delicious home-baked cakes and a handful of carefully-selected brews and wine by the copa, but the focus is on excellent artisan coffee, served in a glass and with a smile.
