There are plenty of places to get an ice cream in Palma. A brief stroll through the old town turns up dozens of them, all competing for your euros with mouth-watering displays that are hard to resist. Heladería Ca'n Miquel isn’t like that, but it’s better for it. Tucked in a back street off the Avenue Jaume III, it’s an unassuming, family-run place without the extravagant displays of other gelaterias. But the ice cream is sublime. Rich, creamy and full of flavour, it's made using only fresh, seasonal ingredients and without any synthetic colourings, additives or preservatives, so you can just about convince yourself it's healthy. Chocolate, in all its glorious forms, is a speciality, and the white chocolate flavour is particularly sensational. Also a café, it offers sweet and savoury pastries, cakes and empanadas too.
