Housed in a building dating back to the 1800s and overlooking the Town Hall square, Café Skansen offers relaxed Norwegian dining at its best. Cooked using traditional methods, the food on the menu has a high seafood content and plenty of meats. Vegetarian options are there but there’s not much choice. A very good wine list makes this an easy place to while away several hours. If you’re visiting in colder seasons, the atmosphere indoors is calm and cosy. The beautiful interior of dark wood panelling, tiled floors and leather seats give a richness to the place, especially when the fire is lit. But if you go when it’s warm, sitting outside underneath the trees as the sun sets is magical. Remember, it's Norway. You just have to forget the cost...
