When Le Pointu opened in Lausanne’s equivalent of New York’s Flatiron building, it felt like the city had been crying out for a bar like this – and clearly others felt the same since the place is usually packed. The key to its success isn’t anything revelatory – bruschetta-style lunch dishes and other light bites at reasonable prices, regional wines, a decent cocktail list, beers by Lausanne microbrewery La Nébuleuse and a laid-back, funky atmosphere (the decor is designed by a local blogger). Most popular of all (book ahead) are its weekend brunches, which include such delights as pain perdu with bacon and maple syrup, eggs with Gruyère cheese, and healthy acai smoothie bowls.
