Having been around for more than 20 years, Balthazar’s has earned its place in the hearts of locals. There’s an informal atmosphere that is heightened by the open, free-standing kitchen and the old bistro decor but this is no retro relic. With its young, on-trend staff and modern international cooking, it’s utterly current. There’s a fixed weekly-changing menu; a five-dish sharing starter (put together by the staff in the restaurant) a fish or meat main course and dessert. It’s warm, cosy and close-knit with plenty of busy chatter and clatter to keep you company. In the summer, tables spread out onto the street for an altogether different atmosphere.
