An unexpected treat near the top of Dartmouth Park Hill, Cricks Corner is a beautiful spot serving exceptional Climpson's coffee (£2.50 for a flat white), fabulous bacon baps (£4.50) and avocado on sourdough toasts, with free Wi-Fi, great tunes and super fun service from owner Simon. Naturally, coming here might be a mission unless you're in the neighbourhood, but pair up a visit with a trip to Highgate Cemetery or Waterlow Park and it's the perfect place to stop off for a shot of caffeine. Plus it's often full of famous local residents... from DJs (DJ Yoda) to politicians (former Labour leader Ed Milliband), actors (Matt Smith) and restaurant critics (Giles Coren). There's a couple of picnic tables outside for when the sun is out, and a back room inside that's quiet and good for remote working. Secret treat? Cross the road and climb to the top of Dartmouth Park reservoir for a view of London's skyline comparable to that at both Parliament Hill and Primrose Hill and much less crowded!
