If you don’t mind the occasional instant coffee, then the Scandinavian Embassy is not for you. However, if you end friendships over sugared coffee and/or you are from Shoreditch, then look no further: you have found your people, and lo! The coffee runneth – nay – poureth over. If you got that joke, congratulations, friend; you’re in. The pour over here is ritualistic. Beans are sourced from a rotation of specialised Scandinavian roasteries such as The Coffee Collective and Per Nordby. The space is intimate yet airy; think light, Scandi minimalism. The vibe is creative and unhurried – these novels won’t write themselves, y’all – and you won’t be rushed through by the unobtrusive staff. The brunch-focused menus are short and experimental, because you didn’t know you wanted sorrel in your porridge, but the Embassy did. Brewing and tasting workshops are also available.
