'No Smurfs or bubblegum flavours!' Since opening Massimo Gelato in February 2017, gelato alchemist Massimo Bertonasco has stayed true to his word – you won’t find a gumball smothered with gloopy neon ice cream here. Massimo has carefully selected his suppliers, and all ingredients are listed beside each tantalising tub. The flavours are seasonal – sorry kid, no strawberry ice cream in February – and appearances sometimes surprise; guess what? Real pistachio ice cream is not bright green. Adventurous and inventive, Massimo has also developed extensive vegan and low-sugar choices. Locals regard Massimo’s as the best gelato in town. 'Money can’t buy you happiness,' says Massimo, 'but it can buy you ice cream.' Can’t argue with that.
