If you like fish with no fuss or clutter then head to La Marée where chef Teresa Alves has been rattling the pans in her tiny kitchen for 30 years. The cod is among the best in Brussels, the sole among the biggest and brightest. For garnish you’ll get a zigzag lemon and a salad leaf but, as the fish sings for itself, you need no more. Out front is cheery husband Mario and team, looking after customers at every turn. Wooden tables and chairs and walls decked with reviews set the scene. In the warmer months there’s a terrace that enhances the lovely old house front. Come here for comforting, perfectly-prepared food – it’s why the locals keep returning.
