This small, rural restaurant is surprisingly high-end. The blandish entrance bears testament to its previous life as a pizza place – but look, there’s the ancient fig tree leading you to a sizeable shaded terrace with astonishing views over the Ardèche countryside. The young chef-patron has created modern menus based on regional specialities with the likes of tempura snails, fresh Ardèche trout and free-range pork with local truffle. There’s a reasonably priced three-course lunch menu and in the evening, three menus culminating in Le Menu du Chef where monsieur creates a surprise tasting menu based around your own tastes. This place may be in a bucolic setting but it has a young, metropolitan touch that makes it a real find.
