Stretch the NoodleOne of the most popular food carts in Portland

Portland is renowned for its independent food carts, with 500+ of them gathered into small ‘pods’ on parking lots across town. Culinary scents from across the world float on the breeze, and some of the food is outstanding. If you don’t know where to start, the queues are a good indicator of which are the most popular with locals.
Stretch the Noodle is one cart that has really made a name for itself, serving up freshly stretched and pounded thick noodles in broths and stir fries, as well as Chinese crêpes – packed with flavour and very satisfying. You’ll find it between 2nd and 3rd on SW Washington Street. The queue, no surprise, is generally long – although it’s more of an informal gathering once you’ve given your name and placed your order – but you can pass the time watching the noodles being stretched and prepped and thrown in the wok, right in front of you.
Although this is a take-out, there are a couple of stools down the side of the cart – or you could follow the crowd and walk the short distance to the Willamette River front to pick a bench, eat and take in the view.
