The story of how this boat became one of Wells-next-the-Sea's favourite drinking holes reads like local legend, but its owner Captain Ton is generally on board to verify that after nearly a century of being a cargo ship she dropped anchor on the shores of Norfolk because sail boats aren't required to work these days. You can stop in for pancakes during the day (Captain Ton hails from the Netherlands), or watch the sunset from the deck with a cold glass of wine, but do stick around after dark for a pint of ale below deck at the weekends, because things tend to take a turn for the raucous. Local folk bands descend on Friday and Saturday nights to enchant a packed shipful of friendly locals. The night's not over until the Albatros' belly is being pounded by stamping feet.
