Even if you don’t choose to eat in this magnificent building, it’s worth popping in for a drink at the bar. Built in the early 18th century as a grain store, it’s a vast space with a vaulted ceiling and columns decorated with frescos depicting people in traditional Bernese costume, mythological figures and folk scenes. On the mezzanine level, the bar’s lengthy list of cocktails, local wines and beers draws in the after-work crowd, while others dine on Italian and Swiss dishes in splendour down below.
