You may have no more than a passing interest in the world’s largest passenger aircraft, but a group tour of the factory where the Airbus 380 is assembled is fascinating even if you’re not a plane spotter. Under tight security (take your passport), visitors are bussed across the tarmac to see the assembly line in action, with the tour guide offering up interesting facts about these 572-ton beasts whose average price is $413m. At the end, a film shows the first test flight in 2005 and demonstrates how the aircraft are pushed to the limit to assess their stress points, a white-knuckle ride for the test pilots.
