When an area has been up and coming for over two decades it usually means that some fancy delis and the odd gallery has opened next to an adult shop or a rehab station. But, at last, Manchester’s Northern Quarter is no longer up and coming - it has arrived. Fiercely independent, the area enclosed by Piccadilly and Ancoats is now thriving with trendy cafés (including several which are vegan), cool bars, boutique shops selling vintage, boutique shops selling designer, and more top notch quality street art than you’ll find anywhere else in the city. At last, the legendary Afflecks Palace is not the only reason to go there. Far from it.
