When you’ve had enough of the cheese and clog-slipper shops of Centrum, De Plantage offers a welcome respite. The area overlaps with the city’s Jewish quarter, and is home to the Jewish Historical Museum as well as several monuments commemorating the huge loss that this community suffered during the war. There is a great sense of contemplation here – you’ll find many peaceful gardens and quiet walkways. La Plantage is also home to the impressive Hermitage Museum and Artis Zoo, so you’ll find something for everyone, and hardly a tulip fridge magnet in sight.
