Short Break: Dorset, EnglandFeast and fossil-hunt on one of southern England's loveliest stretches of shoreline
Cosy up at The Pig on the Beach, a rustic-chic hotel famous for its food, much of which is foraged or grown in the kitchen garden. You won’t want to spend too much time away from your inviting room, the decadent bar or the treatment rooms in old shepherds' huts, but it’s worth the 45-minute drive to discover Weymouth with its watersports including sailing, kitesurfing, windsurfing and SUP paddleboarding. Refuel in Billy Winters Beach Café with its eclectic menu and wonderful bay views before proceeding another 45 minutes west to the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre. Here you can join a warden-led hunt for ammonites, belemnites and more in the most fossil-rich part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
