Do & Eat: Lausanne, VaudLunch and a wander in Lausanne's city centre followed by an art exhibition
Start in Place St-François, a transport hub and focal point of the city. Pop into chocolaterie Blondel, then walk down Rue St-François, cross the road and go up the cobbled street opposite into Place de la Palud, home to Lausanne’s town hall and a clock whose mechanical figures spring into life on the hour. On Wednesday and Saturday mornings, this area and nearby Place de la Riponne host a lively market. Have a bite to eat in Le Pointu, then take the stairs up to the cathedral for a panorama over the city and lake. From here, wander through the medieval Cité until you come to a less medieval roundabout, then either take the road or a steep woodland path up to the Fondation de l’Hermitage to see its latest exhibition.
