Do & Drink: Zürich, SwitzerlandTake a stroll by Lake Zürich and finish up with a cocktail or three
Get a tram to Bellevue, cross the road to the lakeside promenade and wander along with the water to your right. It’s a 15-20 minute stroll, past Bad Utoquai (open-air swimming May-September), until you reach a more open, grassy area of parkland. As you keep walking, you’ll pass food stalls and cafés, Le Corbusier House art museum, and Tinguely’s kinetic sculpture 'Heureka' (it moves daily at 11am, 3pm and 7pm). There’s also the Chinagarten – a walled Chinese Garden (chf4 entry). Walk back, perhaps stopping for a Bratwurst mit Bürli (sausage with bread roll) or an ice cream, then turn inland a bit sooner so you pass through Sechseläutenplatz – the large open plaza in front of Zürich Opera House – to soak up some sun and/or see what’s going on (eg, there’s a fantastic Christmas market here in December). Cross the tram lines at Bellevue then take the footpath alongside the river Limmat towards the old town. At the Rathaus (town hall), cross the bridge and, if it’s after 5pm, stop in for a lovingly made cocktail at the Old Crow.
