3 Hot Restaurants in ShoreditchSpicy foody fusion in London's creative hotspot

The good medieval folk who named Shoreditch after a sewer ditch would have understood the modern, persistent fondness for names that follow function. Of course, the boggy watercourse has long since gentrified, although thankfully the diversity and contradictions remain. Today they’d definitely have chosen a different name, one that conjures laneway beer gardens, retro-glow neon, hybrid bars, and nicely spicy dining of the finest order. Especially if you look beyond well-loved Brick Lane and Spitalfields markets for your befores, afters, snacks, cocktails and medieval-level feasting.
We at Need to Know like it hot – as in spice, as in absolutely-must-go. So there’s Smoking Goat for the fiery chilli flavours of late-night Bangkok (try the smoked aubergine salad) or Turkish-Cypriot share plates at Oklava. In Shoreditch Town Hall, The Clove Club is still book-it-now hot – sitting at 27 on the 2019 World’s Best Restaurants list – for its modern take on classic British food.
